Scott Sibbald

Consultant

For nearly a decade, I advised Alberta’s Information and Privacy Commissioner on policy and communications, working at the intersection of some of the most significant privacy developments in Canada. I heard often from organizations in all sectors that privacy and access was being handled off the side of someone’s desk. Range Road Consulting was launched to help organizations with that challenge.

“You are the right person at the right time.”

Elizabeth Denham, CBE International Advisor, Baker McKenzie — Former UK Information Commissioner — Former BC Information and Privacy Commissioner

Among my services, I assist organizations across Canada with privacy and access to information, including:

  • Helping build a privacy management program focused on people and clear processes
  • Completing privacy impact assessments for new or changing practices or systems
  • Developing easy-to-understand training resources to build staff awareness effectively
  • Advising on new legislation or regulator guidance to help make sense of expectations
  • Communicating with stakeholders about privacy in plain language

My background is equal parts policy, regulation and communications, meaning that I can help not just with the technical side but with how you implement and talk about your program. I hold a Master of Administration and Leadership from the University of Regina, a Bachelor of Communications Studies from the University of Calgary, and am a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Scott Sibbald

Scott was incredibly helpful to me as Commissioner, ensuring we were always prepared and professional. He has a knack for converting complex ideas into something easy to understand, and his exceptional strategic communications abilities focus on practical solutions. I genuinely enjoyed working with Scott.

Jill Clayton Former Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta

While Scott was with the Saskatchewan School Boards Association, I had the opportunity to work alongside him on provincial privacy and records management planning. He brought fresh ideas and a great operational sense to the work that helped us deliver extremely valuable and targeted resources to the K–12 education sector.

Daryl Koroluk Former Chief Technology Officer, Saskatoon Public Schools

Scott gives maximum effort to every project and can be counted on to see them through. He rises to every challenge and exceeds all expectations. His knowledge, experience, advice and leadership were invaluable to me and made my job so much easier. I very much enjoyed working with Scott.
